Anyone with semi-regular periods?From: Kerri (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Nov 2001 13:02:45 -0600 (CST)
I just spoke to my obgyn about the possibility of PCOS. I told him I read serveral articles on the syndrome and I had many of the symtptoms and asked could this be what's going on. He flatly said "NO." He told me my periods were too regular...to have a diagnosis of PCOS you must have very irregular periods, at least 3-4 months in between. He didn't even ask what symptoms I had or why I thought it would be an issue for me. When I told him I wasn't ovulating most months (via my OPK), he just said that if I didn't ovulate this month, he would put me on Clomid (my husband and I are ttc). Now, I know that I have read that there are women with PCOS who do seem to have regularish periods. Since going off the pill (which I was on for 11 years), mine have ranged from 25-35 days over the past 8 months...pretty normal. My question is, is there anyone out there who has a PCOS diagnosis and still has somewhat regular periods? Should I take his word that I don't have PCOS? I am not sure what else to do. The symptoms I do have are unexplained weight gain (yes, even with exercise); acne on my face, chest, and back; hair growth in undesireable places; irregular heartbeat; loosing excessive hair from my head; skin tags; and these little brown patches of skin. If there is anyone else out there with a PCOS diagnosis AND has fairly regular periods, I would like to hear from you. Thanks...Kerri
