I spoke with Dr. Perloe and Brandy, his assistant who does the
previsits, writes the orders and does the pap smears, etc. We actually
had a lengthy discussion about it.
In women with PCOS, *any* bleeding is considered significant due to the
menstrual irregularities. I believe that I indicated in my previous
post that this can be caused by insufficient progesterone levels.
The original discussion was about brown, dry periods, not pink spots.
These would be two entirely different things since brown blood is
considered old blood. If you are ttc, and you have dry brown spots in
mid-cycle, this could be and indication that you *are* ovulating. If
you are trying to conceive and your are having the kinds of *periods*
that we were discussing, it should be of concern and your dr should be
notified. For your reference, the posts I am referring to begin with
the following: http://forums.obgyn.net/pcos/PCOS.0110/0846.html
The first day of you period is the day in which you begin bleeding. Many
"normal" women do not have to use any protection until the second day of
their period. Thank Goodness for this because you should never stick in
a tampon if you are merely expecting a period to begin. FYI, the
menstral cycle is important for all of us with PCOS, we do not have to
be trying to conceive. We all want optimum health for ourselves, our
mothers and our daughters.
