Re: My heart is breaking for a child of my ownFrom: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Nov 2001 01:37:33 -0600 (CST)
Oh Tracy I'm so with you. When I saw the title of your post I almost couldn't read it because just the title made me start crying. We've waited over 2 years for a child - not as long as some people for sure, but when you're hoping and waiting so expectantly only to be disappointed again and again, it sure gets old fast!! The good news is, PCOS is supposedly the easiest form of infertility to treat! I would say, if you're not already, insulin sensitizers like Met are a must. They will help you ovulate more regularly, maybe restoring your cycle all on their own, and will help you hold a pregnancy - it reduces your risk of miscarriage from something like 45% to 9% according to one study I read. If the Met alone doesn't work, a combination of Met and Clomid has a really incredible success rate (91% I think, in a period of 2 months? Someone correct me if I've fogotten.) It depends on your body and how severe your PCOS is, to be sure, but it's not hopeless by a long shot. I sure hope you are able to hold the child of your dreams SOON.
