Re: Dizzy spellsFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Nov 2001 09:56:17 -0600 (CST)
Rhonda, dizziness can be an indicator of a variety of serious conditions. Doctors have come under fire in the last 5 months for not treating dizziness with the appropriate seriousness. One cause is "vestibular vertigo", this will cause the room to spin at uneven intervals. The testing for this includes watching flashing lights and having hot and cold air blown into your ears. Blood tests will not find evidence of this particular cause. This goes for a number of other causes of dizziness. An MRI should be done if nothing else can be found. This is not the kind of testing that you would normally have prescribed by a GP or a GYN. The endocrinologist would even send you to a specialist for this kind of testing. If you are able to go to any doctor you want, you may want to look up a good neurologist. Dizziness to the point of going to the ER is definately not normal. You need to keep telling doctors about the dizziness as long as it bothers you.
