1) How old were you when you were diagnosed with PCOS? 18

2) How old were you when you think you should have first been diagnosed? 16-17

3) How old were you when you first started showing any signs of PCOS? 14

4) If there had been information available to you in your school about PCOS, do you think it would have improved the quality of your life either at that age or now?

yes. At that time it was a completely new concept and I felt like a freak. i was teased for my excessive hair on my face and made excuses for not going swimming due to the hair on the back of my legs and bikini line. As soon as I started finding out about other people with PCOS i felt so much better. Obviously as you get older (I'm now 27) you can deal with things much better. But at that age being different is awful. I now realise it could have been much worse but at the time I felt like I was the only person with this horrible disease that made me different from everyone else. Things were different then and the only info I could find in five years of searching was a 4 page leaflet on PCOS from the hospital. Information is so important.

good luck with the project Claire - from the UK
