Jude,

I have hashimoto's, no need for RAI, my body is slowly destroying my thyroid on it's own LOL. I've been hyper due to over medication, it's absolutely horrible, worse than being hypo. from the hashi's. My 5th (yes FIFTH) endo says my TSH level should be close to 1, I'm currently at 2.51 and feeling okay, and have finally lost weight. I exercised like crazy and dieted for 8 months without losing a single pound so I'm thrilled to have lost 6/7 pounds. I gained about twenty last year when I was hypo (ate everything in sight).

I keep a chart of my TSH, T4 and T3 levels along with the medication I'm taking. I've been getting progressively worse in the past year so my meds have to be increased to keep up with it. I tried a T3 medication - cytomel but after initially feeling much better I felt horrible, I noticed that my T4 went way down on it. Now my levels are real even, I don't know what to attribute it to, the increase in Unithroid, the glucophage, or the iron supplements I've been taking (my ferritin levels were borderline low).

Anyway, I do feel much better, and even find myself wanting to have sex -- but like I write, this just started a few days ago, knock on wood it continues.
