In this area, we are finding that doctors are giving the choice of taking the pills all at once or spread out during the day. The theory is that since it is time-released, the lower blood levels of Glucophage will end up being only on the first day. After the first day, you will have residual higher levels from the day before. The main difference is that since the pill only comes in 500mg strengths, you have to take as many as 5 tablets at once to reach your desired level. If Glucophage is combined with Avandia, a drug for lowering testosterone, any sort of period inducing medication, multi-vitamins, etc., you end up with a handful of drugs at once. This has been shown to reduce compliance with the drug. It cannot work if it is not taken so doctors are suggesting that it be spread out over time. (ex. 2500 = 1 with breakfast, 2 with lunch, 2 with dinner)
