Rebecca, unless your doctor has a different reason for doing it this way, you should be taking the XR once a day. 2000mg is fine, but the XR is designed to be taken at one time during the day - that's why the time release coating. Which is not to say that I think it would hurt you to take it throughout the day (in fact your insulin is probably super stable!!) but you can save yourself some hassle!
