Re: new to forum, lots of questions

Thank you so much. I took the quiz, but I only scored 5, so not too
high. But I'm still wondering, because I can't find any alternative
syndromes to account for the hair and acne thing. I did read that Depo
Provera can cause those symptoms, so I'm wondering if that is the origin
of it for me. This month my doctor did the day 3 blood work that looks
at LH/FSH, testosterone and then we'll do day 21 to look at
progesterone. I've already had prolactin checked and thyroid which were
all normal. I'm still going to bring up PCOS question at my appt
however. But let me ask a couple more questions — From all I've read
here, PCOS seems to be something you have from teen years on, but with
varying presentation of symptoms. Could someone not have any symtpoms
at all until age 35 and then have those appear subsequent to Depo
Provera use? Or would it more likely be due to the hormonal imbalance
from Depo?
What are other symptoms of Insulin resistance? I do have a couple of
tiny skin tags on my chest, but I've never failed my glucose tests when
I've had them during my previous pregnancies. Would IR have showed up
then? Or is that a different kind of test? I am still 10 lbs overweight
from the pregnancy lost in April, but my weight has been stable
otherwise throughout my life.
Sorry for all the questions. PCOS seems to be a very strange syndrome,
and the more I research and read posts, the more confusing it gets!
