I need to tell my story!From: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 10 Nov 2001 01:57:54 -0600 (CST)
I'm new to this forum and I am having one of those nights that I'm sure everyone knows about. I can't stop crying and feeling sorry for myself...I'm sure it's the hormones, but it's the worst feeling in the world. I am 22 years old and was officially diagnosed with PCOS a year ago. The bad thing is that I can't find a doctor that will help me. They all say that the answer is birth control pills. Well, that's not the answer when you want to conceive and you are also IR. I just feel like I can't deal with it anymore. I do not have periods at all. I started my menses at 12 years and it slowly disappeared by the time I was 15 years old. I started noticing my hair growth and finally began to gain weight. I have now gained about 50 lbs in the past four years and I can't seem to get the weight off. I suffer insomnia and run on empty all day everyday. I just found out today that I now have high cholesterol and triglycerides. That's just one more restriction on my diet. My diet now consists of as few carbs as possible and foods low in fat and cholesterol. Well, I guess I can eat fish and chicken....and that's about all. The worst of everything are the mood swings. I can't control myself and I can feel the swings on and off everyday of my life. It has taken a major toll on my husband's and my relationship. I feel like I'm going crazy and only seems to keep getting worse. I only want to fell like I did so many years ago when my body was just a little more normal than it is now. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 3 years. I have taken Clomid for 6 cycles and no luck. I know that I need a good doctor that can help me out, but I can't find one that knows anything about PCOS. Does anyone have any words of encouragement or advice that can help me? Thank you guys for listening.
