pcos for years but now new symptoms and posible cancer??From: admed (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 9 Nov 2001 00:50:15 -0600 (CST)
hi All, would appreciate any thoughts on this. I've had pcos for many years, diagnosed about 92, i am currently 30yrs. old. For the past year, I've had really differnt symtoms than ever bf. I used to just have really irregular (late) periods, but for the last year, have had very long periods and very short intervals (6 weeks bleeding, one week not, etc). When i went to the doc last year when it first started happening, they said take the pill. I didnt. Dont want to. Anyway, i put my head in the sand till abt a month ago, when i decided to get some info and make some decisions (sick of being depressed over seemingly always bleeding!). So i went back to the doc, to discuss my new info and get new blood work. But now, they are saying bc I am bleeding so often, that I may have uterine cancer!!! WHAT?? Why didnt they say so last year when I had the same symtoms?? rare at 30, but possible they say. So i have a few questions. First, why would my symtoms of pcos change so much (irregular bleeding to seemingly constant bleeding)? Second, the test they use for the biopsy, how reliable is it>? Third, I'm just confused. Why am I bleeding all the time!!! Is this normal for pcos'ers? I've been trying a 40% carb diet, and have lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. (I have about 70 to lose). I finally made a commitment to try to lose some weight and get this under control, and now they tell me it might be a cancer?!? Does anyone have experience of bleeding like I do, and or cancer experience around pcos? any help appreciated, bc I am just very confused.
-- thanks to anyone who comments.
