I believe that the reason you are supposed to stop met before surgery
has to
do with the extra stress of surgery putting you aty greater risk of
developing
lactic acidosis from the Met... I forget where I read this but it must
be coming to mind for some reason!!! I don't think it has anything to do
with the pain meds not working as well. I can't imagine why met would
make a pain med less effective... it's possible you are just in a lot
of pain and the dosage of vicodan you were given just wasn't strong
enough! :-)
