Re: Vent (sorry!)...doc didn't run tests I asked for...why rely on an old Dx?

I think (according to Chris) that the Lab personel was the one who gave her the time that the dr would have the results, not the dr or the staff. ;-) This occurs very frequently. Drs and patients are frustrated by it but that does not stop some lab techs from giving bad information.

I hope that you have noticed that I have in fact been a big supporter of changing doctors if necessary, in this case, given only the facts presented by Chris, it is not my recommendation. She, of course, may do so if she so desires but it will be because of her own desire and not because of any wrong doing by the doctor (based on what she has stated).

Where I have worked, you can have a wonderful outcome at 1 and then at 1:15 you can have a real emergency. Life or death. I have seen people come in with their daughters for a simple surgery and then have to be there when they find out that it is cancer that has matastisized and there is only a limited amount of time left.

I have carried a 6-month old baby down to have tests run to see how cancer was progressing in him while his father and mother held his twin brother. Unfortunately, this means that these families needed me more than the child with cleft palate, or the child with the T&A. I did not ignore these clients but they did not get the ice cream that I had promised when they expected it. It had to wait.

While there are a large number of bad doctors out there, 1) life happens and 2)the original post does not indicate that this is one.

It is great that you have found a doctor that you believe in so much. I hope that you never listen to a lab tech that gives you bad information and then feel betrayed by the doctor.
