Re: Getting Started with PCOSFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 31 Oct 2001 19:54:46 EST
"pcosrose", I was diagnosed around age 18, placed on BCP's, and was told that when I wanted to get pregnant I would have to take Clomid. Thirteen years later, my husband and I are trying to get pregnant and I have been off the pill for 1 year. Since I have been off the pill, my symptoms are worsening. I have never been thin, but only 20 lbs overweight at my heaviest. The facial hair is getting worse. I am just going to an OBGYN but you might want to consider an Endocrinologist. In my experience, the OB's and Family docs aren't up on the new treatments. I am taking Glucophage after Clomid failure and I am trying to eat a low carb diet. My fasting insulin levels were normal but I didn't take the IGTT. I crave carbs and have mostly abdomen weight like the insulin resisters. hope this helps, your not alone. diane
