Re: PCOSFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Oct 2001 18:28:10 -0600 (CST)
Let's see, postmenopausal women do not have periods - ever. They do have the possibility of thinning hair, facial hair, they are almost certain to develop full blown diabetes if they live long enough, their risk of heart attack is very high. Weight gain is very easy, brain fogginess, etc. In short, after the possiblty of having children has passed, and we no longer worry about periods. The other problems are likely to increase due to the total lack of estrogen to counter the testosterone. HRT can be used but like the BCP, it can make you feel terrible. I hope the metformin or the Insmed will be able to help us. I am 3rd generation, my daughter is 4th.
