Re: China- to KateFrom: Kate (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Oct 2001 09:20:42 -0600 (CST)
Wow Helen, This is too funny. Part of the reason I left Beijing when I did was to come home and get married. My fiance was living there with me, but we wanted to get married at home. I don't think my family would have been too keen on the airfare to China for a wedding. Anyway, the worst experience I had was trying to find a wedding dress while living in China. I finally hired a tailor to make one (she fouled it up, then of course told me it didn't look right because I was too fat!) So I got home 2 months before the wedding and ended up buying a new dress. I turned the tag over and read "Made in China." I about laughed myself silly. I did have the bridesmaid dresses made there with some silk from Wangfujing and they turned out great. You should e-mail me and we can continue this chat off the board. I suspect others might get annoyed with it!. I can give you some re-entry tips and tell you some essentials to bring back. My address is listed.
