Dear Sheri, What you have described is not an incompetent cervix. An incompetent cervix is one which opens up prematurely during pregnancy, causing a late miscarriage or stillbirth. What you are describing is a stenosed cervix. The LEEP scars your cervix and in most people this is no concern. However it seems the scar tissue in your case closed over the os, or opening of the cervix. This then means that your menstrual blood is retained in your womb, causing the terrible pain you've been having. This is called a "secondary haematocolpos", meaning you've had normal periods before, but now blood is trapped in your womb. Hopefully, the cervix has now healed properly, with the opening open! Be aware that it may recur though and go back to your doctor ASAP if it does! Good luck, HTH, Emma
