Re: Help! Not sure if metformin is helping...From: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Oct 2001 14:15:24 -0600 (CST)
Hi Caroline I guess I'm sort of in the same boat as you, only I'm not TTC. I went off the Pill because it made me want to kill myself... I have been off of it for about 4 weeks now and my hair is falling out like crazy. I pull of gobs of it in the shower especially. It's lousy... I can't remember if it was this bad before going on the BCP. Yes, you can have a period without ovulating. If you don't have clear ovulatory signs - I always have egg white cervical mucus the day of and get sore boobs for two weeks after, for example - you might want to try charting to see if you really are ovulating. What dosage of met are you on? The problem with met that i am begining to see is, well, there is no "right" dosage that can be determined by whether or not you are having periods. Met is not supposed to give you periods... that's just a side effect some women experience. I am beginning to wonder if for some of us, the met doesn't do enough to counter the high tesosterone... someone said that actos or avandia really does a good job of getting that to go down, i forget which... Your body could still be nutty from going off the pill... i don't know. some women do say they have less or no hair loss on the met. I wish there were some easy answers to this... - Jodi
