Re: 2 Questions...From: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Oct 2001 01:07:07 -0500 (CDT)
Randi I'm not sure about the upper leg hair. I have very light fine hair up there, but I'm lucky in that my body hasn't become hairy yet - just my face! So maybe it is normal?? As far as pregnancy goes, Spiro is a definite no-no while pregnant, as it can cause really serious birth defects. (The fetus' genitalia, particularly males, don't form properly because the testosterone is blocked. I think that's how it goes anyway.) Technically, the jury is out on Met. It is a "class B" drug which means that it has been tested and found safe during pregnancy on animals, but no one has tested it on humans yet. Every indication is that it is safe, we just don't have proof of it yet. Given that it dramatically cuts the miscarriage rate, my vote is definitely to stay on it - I think for us Cysters, the benefits far outweigh any risk that might or might not be present. Of course that's up to you and your doctor, though.
