Re: Does anyone else have concurrent thyroid problems? From: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 24 Oct 2001 22:04:19 -0500 (CDT)
Jude, I have a thyroid problem as well. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (or low thyroid). I was just diagnosed with PCOS about a month ago and am new to the forum. As yet I am not taking anything for the PCOS. For the low thyroid I take Levoxl, a sythetic thyroid hormone. Symptoms of low or hypothyroid include hair loss and weight gain. Before treatment I was loosing about 400 hairs a day. I counted them because my hair started out so thick that no one beleived me at first. I know that after having the RAI treatment you will become hypothroid. Are you taking thyroid hormone? Another thing that I found helpful is taking Evening Primrose Oil. You can find a lot of information about thyroid problems at http://www.thyroid.about.com. I hope I got that address right! Good Luck
