Here is my PCOS,IR, & Infertility StoryFrom: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 18 Oct 2001 14:37:45 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed with IR & PCOS last June 2000. This is after 6 years of trying to get pregnant and find out why I kept getting fatter. I started MET right away. In Aug 2000 we started infertility treatments with Provera and clomid. The clomid was joke and I was on the highest dose. So the process was stopped. In Sept 2000 we started again. I started with provera, then injections which lasted for three weeks before I finally had to eggs big enough, we did the HCG shot on 9/27 and on 9/28&29 we had artificial inseminations done. On Oct 11 2000 I found out I was pregnant with one baby. I was so excited that finally I got pregnant. Well, my pregnancy was a little tough. I was really sick at the beginning, in fact I lost 20lbs. A couple of times during the pregnancy I spotted, but it turned out to be nothing. I had ultrasounds done, I did become diabetic, so I did insulin from Jan to April. At 32 weeks we had an ultrasound and the baby;s growth was slowing down, so at 36 weeks, we had another, and the baby had not grown much since the last. So I was put in the hospital that same day and by 12:22 am the next morning. Brendon Tyler was born at 4lbs 3oz. He was beautiful. By the next day Brendon stopped eating and by that next day after that we got the news that Brendon had to be transferred to another hospital because he might need surgery. He had some type of colitis infection in his intestines that was very fatal. So here I think I worked so hard to get this baby, and he is going to die. In the next couple of days Brendon got sicker. On the 5th day of his life they had to rush him to surgery and ended up removing 80% of his lg intestine and they put in a colostomy. Brendon spent a month in the hospital and then came home. at 3 months Brendon went back in for surgery to reconnect his intestines. The doctor's don't know what caused the condition. Some say it is the diabetes of the mother, some say it is a lack of oxygen to the intestines. It is just not known. But Brendon is now 5 months and doing wonderful. He is growing well and all plumbing is working to the tee. I am back on MET to control the IR & PCOS. And if you ask if I will try again. Of course, the only thing that will stop me is this war going on. But if the the time Brendon is a year. Things are a little settled with this country, we are going to try again. I am 36 now, and with the PCOS, I really can't wait to long. If you have any questions feel free to email me at my personal email faussetja@aol.com.
