Dianna, two options to at least consider are the use of an insulin sensitizing agent (like Metformin/Glucophage, or Avandia, you probably see people here talking about them.) or trying a low-carb diet. Both work to help correct the insulin problems that stuff your metabolism up in the first place. Also don't panic yet about not having kids; while PCOS does impair your fertility, it's also the easiest form of infertility to treat. Many women with PCOS get pregnant on their own without any intervention at all, and treatments as simple as the right medications have success rates of up to 91%.
