PCOS & EndometriosisFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 15 Oct 2001 16:15:52 -0500 (CDT)
I've just started Metformin, 2 weeks now after I was diagnosed with PCOS and I'm coping quite well. I had hot sweats and terrible nausea for the first few days but I kept at it in the hope that things would get better, they have. I'm on 2 x 500mg per day at the moment - I found that taking the tablets after food stopped the nausea, rather than taking them before eating. I go up to 3 x 500mg this week and I'll post back to let you know how I get on. During my scan at hospital when the scan was moved to my right side it gave me terrible pain and they found that as well as PCOS I have Endometriosis, at first I was horrified to think I came out of the hospital with more than I bargained for but when I looked in to it, I was somewhat relieved as it answered all the questions to symptoms that PCOS didn't. Here's a list of symptoms of Endometriosis: severe menstrual cramps pelvic pain apart from menses backache painful intercourse painful bowel movements fatigue bloating constipation menstrual diarrhoea pain with exercise painful pelvic exams painful and frequent urination A good web site for more information is http://www.centerforendo.com/QandA.htm The Endometriosis means I have to have a minor op but they want to treat the PCOS first and see how I get on with Metformin. Hope some of you find this useful. Michelle
