Re: Arg...Low Carb help pleaseFrom: anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Sep 2001 15:18:26 -0500 (CDT)
As I understand it, to control the insulin response you need to balance good carbs with protein and fat, although sometimes carbs with one or the other is okay - as for snacks. Try the Insulin Resistance Diet book which is fairly similar to the Zone diet. One cook book I found "40/30/30" or something like that does have recipes for cookies and brownies that are okay to eat. You don't have to purchase books at amazon to get good references on books, so do some searching there, I sometimes buy there but sometimes I can find the same books for a lot less at http://www.half.com or http://www.ebay.com Also look at the G-Index diet, it's a lot more flexible but I'm thinking there might be something to the balance that works better. Sugarbusters is good too. I sort of combine all of them, when I'm being good. I am trying to develop more responsible eating habits, I slack off too easily and have my bread or french fries.
