Hi Ayesha-
I also have PCOS and have had depression in the past. Who knows whether
it is more common in PCOS because of chemistry or if the symptoms just
wear you down. It doesn't really matter *why* you're depressed but *if*
you're depressed! All I can say is get help. They always say being
suicidal is a warning sign to get help. But I think that is too
drastic! Even if you aren't suicidal (I never was), wanting to be alone
all of the time and crying a lot is no way to live! If you need help
finding a doctor to evaluate whether you have depression or not, and to
possibly help you get treatment (whether with medication or therapy)
please feel free to e-mail me. If worse comes to worse, I suggest going
to an urgent-care type of place. I am telling you I never knew how
badly I was depressed I was until I wasn't depressed anymore! When I was
finally back to "normal", I said, "Oh! So this is how it's supposed to
be!" Reach out and ask for help if you need it.

>This is in response to Ayesha, re:pcos and depression. I am 27 and was diagnosed with pcos after I had my daughter. I knew something was "wrong " with me since I was around 20. Before starting Met I weighed about 144 pounds. I watched my carb intake closely, dieted, exercised like a freak, etc, and NOTHING worked. I couldnt lose one pound. I have been on Met almost one year now and today I weigh 123 pounds. For the past six months my weight has varied by give or take two pounds, but mostly it has stayed the same. I thank the Creator everyday for this drug. As for depression, I am still depressed quite often. As other people have already stated , I dont really know if anyone knows really whether pcos causes depression becuz of something chemically that happens or if it (depression) is just caused by feelings of dispair related to ones appearance (weight, acne, etc.) I myself have struggled with all of the lovely symptoms. My weight has never really been sky high, but for my frame and height, my former weight was making me extremely uncomfortable and I started having serious lower back problems. The weight was all around was all around my waist (which has never been extremely small). Now, I am 20 pounds lighter and I feel better physically. I would just like to express to you that I have found therapy sessions to be very helpful for me. I didnt want to go the drug route for treatment of depression as I figured the Met and Spiro were enough drugs in my system. While I realize therapy isnt for everyone, a non-biased outside person listening to what I have to say and validating my feelings helps me to deal with bouts of extreme depression and whatever other crap that may come up in my life. I hope you have a good experience with the Met and know that you are not alone in the struggle. Love Heidi
