Research into PCOS

I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS in the UK. I am refusing to take the contraceptive pill because I have hypertension. The doctors have tried the bullying and scare tactics but these haven't worked on me. I would rather take my chances with the fertility problem than risk having a stroke or blood clot.

I am a medical researcher and would like to look into alternatives for women suffering from PCOS. I have heard of herbal remedies (e.g. agnus castus, dong quai) that are believed to be helpful. I am also interested in the psychological aspects of being diagnosed and living with PCOS. I was thinking of putting together a research proposal and bidding for some money to look into this. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has any thoughts about what research is important in this field. At the moment I am just knocking ideas around in my head.
