You should sue that SOB, or at least report him to the medical board. What if you had gone with his suggestion? Your husband would be a widower, and your future kids would never be born! And he'd be guilty, IMHO, of murder!
Seriously, that's not something a doctor is EVER supposed to say to anyone, let alone a patient! He should not be practicing. It's only a matter of time before one of his suggestions gets carried out.
