What is the name of the new BCP that has anti-androgen properties? From: Sunbeam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 11 Sep 2001 06:58:58 -0500 (CDT)
Hello Cysters! Awhile back there was a discussion and I remember something being mentioned about a new BCP with anti-androgen properties, which was a good treatment for PCOS, I am just wondering if anyone remembers the name of it and whether it is available in South Australia yet or not? (Apologies for bringing up an old thread again, but I can't remember the name of it, sorry)... The reason being is that I have been on Zoladex implants for 3 weeks now, along with the Mirena IUCD-put in a year ago and have been feeling pretty poorly from some of the side-effects since the first of 6 monthly Zoladex shots (EG- hot flushes, nightsweats, migraines, anxiety attacks, racing heartbeat & palpitations, extreme period cramp/lower back pain and the list goes on....LOL). For those wanting to know, I went on the Zoladex because I also have Endo aswell as PCOS and was on day 84 of my period (which is always heavy and unpredictable), I had a 3 day break off my AF after the shot, only to near-haemorrage in the weeks since, (over 60 maternity pads a day) - I am now very anaemic, and the iron supplements I'm taking (FEFOL) aren't doing much for my blood levels at this stage - here's to hoping theres no blood transfusion in my near future!! (Keep your fingers crossed for me, please!) I am asking about the new BCP, even though I've not been able to tolerate any hormonal therapy or BCP in the past, because the Zoladex is my last resort before surgery (we're talking a possible hysterectomy here, which I certainly do not want, even though I am not TTC and the present moment, I want to keep my innards thankyou-very-much-sir, maybe I do want another bub in the future, just not right now LOL! And I figure that if my new DR wants me to stop the Zoladex at my next appointment on wed 19th; I would like to bring along another option with me...So if anyone could provide me with a name, details of their experience with it (If that's not too personal a question to ask, that is...), or even any good sites, that would be just peachy!! Many thanks in advance friends
