Re: Please explain why -- Thank youFrom: BlueJoan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 7 Sep 2001 10:59:12 -0500 (CDT)
Hello again!! Thanks for the kind responses.. I hope my first post didn't come off as bitter.... it wasn't intended to... I was and am just confused.... I have type II diabetes and have taken amaryl for 3 years for that... just started the glucaphage this summer... but is didn't control my blood sugar and had to continue the amaryl. So I guess... my confusion was why am I taking both amaryl and glucaphage??? I have appointment with ob/gyn who has taken care of my pcos this summer.... I have appointment with him on Tuesday and can perhaps get my questions answered then, too. The thing about taking the amaryl.... When I started glucaphage... doc said to just switch.. go off of amaryl and take glucophage.... I did. But my blood sugars were consistantly high.... so I called his office. He was out that day and the nurse I spoke to said, "no, on glucophage, your sugars won't be high." I said, "Yes, they are." She answered, "No, they should be lower." I answered, "Yes, I know they should be lower, but they are not." She answered, "they should be lower." So I finally hung up and called my family doctor. Got an appointment with her and she said to continue with the amaryl and the glucaphage..... So... my sugars were just a-ok for a long time... now that I"ve lost a little weight and have been sick, the sugars are below 100 (or even 80).... so I wonder if i'm taking too much of something..... I guess my question for the doctor should be can I quit the amaryl????? Thanks for letting me ramble... It helps to get things all out... even if it is on the computer screen..... Thanks....
