Yes, most likely these bumps are ingrown hairs. But also be aware that
sometimes red bumps can be a form of vasculitis (blood vessel
inflammation which can form blockages, etc). I'm not trying to be an
alarmist by any means, but I'm speaking from personal experience. My
younger sister was diagnosed with Wegener's Granulomatosis (a form of
vasculitis that usually affects the respiratory system; an autoimmune
disease). In her case her inflamed blood vessels prevented blood from
getting to parts of her lungs and those parts ended up "dying." This is
an extremely dangerous and life threatening disease. She had red bumps
on her legs but she AND a few of her doctors dismissed them as being
from shaving; it was her Rheumatologist who saw them and told us they
were actually because of the vasculitis.
I just wanted you to know about this, you may want to look up vasculitis
and make sure you don't fall into any of the categories. Again, please
don't think I'm being an alarmist..
And if they really are ingrown hairs, one product I've used on my bikini
area and stomach after shaving is Bikini Plus gel by Sally Hansen. It's
really great stuff, cut down on my red bumps dramatically.
