Re: Blabs info on Edema/Hair lossFrom: blabs (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 4 Sep 2001 01:00:36 -0500 (CDT)
for when you mention spiro to your RE: dunno how much you actually know, but 'little to nothing' prompts my reply! Spiro is just a shortened form of the word, as i can never remember how to spell it correctly. spirolactone? something like that. that is the generic form, and the brand name is Aldactone. don't know that that helps you a lot, but if you do a search on here, i'm sure there is plenty of info on Spiro/aldactone. also, i believe that as spiro is a diuretic you'd need to drink LOTS of water and maybe take vitamins? to counteract. other than that i've found it effective. for the hair, bcps were a good addition for me (i was on ortho cyclen). hated taking them tho, so i stopped. as a side effect of stopping, the hair got worse than it was before. just fyi...well,i'm babbling now, so i'll stop. good luck to you.
