Can endocrine problems cause severe edema?From: ALicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Aug 2001 08:59:30 -0500 (CDT)
I have lymphedema and since being wrapped--lymphedema therapy figured out a LOT of my weight is water. Im thinking at least a 100lbs. My thin leg went down to skin and bones once it was wrapped and I didnt think I had any fluid on that. I dont have congestive heart failure but my body is retaining fluids like crazy. IN stomach and legs. I know this can come from obesity but I know people who are in the 400s even and my situation is far more extreme. I have another friend with PCOS that is swelling like a balloon. I think something else could be going on with us. I need ideas. Also can Met do this? Another point. All my weight loss has occured on the top half of my body. So all my clothes are quite loose up there and the bottom half is still very large. It is quite alarming.
