Hi - Yes I remember being told that I was lucky not to have periods - and I live in the UK. That was many years ago now, though I have to admit. Even now in England, many drs still think that the pill is the best thing for ladies with PCOS, and from reading posts on this group - it still happens all over the world. I am sorry that I don't really know where you can find a new doctor that can help in a more proactive way - but there are things that you can do to help yourself. A lot of ladies that have pcos, also have insulin resistance - where their hormones are so whacked out of space, their bodies cannot process the sugars in food correctly. Many follow low carbohydrate diets, such as Atkins. Personally - I find that way too hard - so I try and exercise as much as possible. When I am exercising I find that I do have periods, and if I do not exercise so much I don't - very weird. Keep checking the posts here on this group - you will learn a lot. Gather as much information as you can - perhaps you can educate your doctor? Good Luck Cathy
