Lucky girl?From: Marisol (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Aug 2001 21:47:34 -0500 (CDT)
Can you believe that a Dr. a few years ago told me that I was the lucky person on earth because I dont have periods every month?(I was 25yrs). After I gave birth to my daughter, I didnot have a period for almost a year. I only has periods while taking provera. The Dr. never send me to an ultrasound ,only fews blood tests like prolactine hormone or tiroid . I change for at least 4 more Drs, and nobody tell me what was my problem. I get a sonogram last year and see my ovaries full of cists.(Dr. #5 told me that this is nothing to worry about and put me on the pill), I quit the pill after 3months and does not have a period for 8 months. I get a period now every 6 to 8 months. (now I am 35yrs). My concern with this is that I read that missing periods can cause endometrial cancer and osteoporosis (sorry, i think this is in spanish). It seems that in PR ,(Puerto Rico) theres a ignorance about PCOS. If somebody can help me to find a Dr. on PR who can help me I will be very glad. I been suffering for more than 13 years , and it seems like a tunel without an end. Please help. Thanks!
