Hi! Wow, I have only been off line for two days and I feel so out of the loop. It will take me hours to read all of the posts I missed, so I apologize for being behind.

Ok so I had my scary-sounding ultrasound on Monday and you guys were right...it was not terrible. My doctor was really nice and very gentle. I couldn't believe my eyes though...I have tonz of cysts! Classic "string of pearls" on each ovary plus more! At least I know now I'm not crazy...I have seen it with my own eyes! Plus...my right ovary is significantly larger than my left...so what does that mean?

The doc said my blood work was all basically "normal." My LH:FSH ration was only 2:1 so not in the worrisome range of 3:1 which is good. My testosterone level was 38 which he said that even though that was still considered "normal" it is elevated enough to cause problems. But here's what I don't get...my fasting insulin level was really low (which is good I guess because that means I don't have IR) and he said he didn't see a point in doing a GTT beacause of how low it is. SO....he says that in one way it's good (because I don't have IR) but in another way it's bad (because now we can't treat it with Met). So...getting to my point....if I am DON'T have IR and my insulin levels are LOW, then WHAT???? is causing my Testosterone level to be high and have all of these other problems such as obesity, hair issues etc.... Are there many of us out there that DON'T have IR? If so...what do you do to treat it with out insulin sensitizers?

Okay, next question: My doc said that he did want to do a fairly low-carb diet because he thinks I can still benefit from it even though I do NOT have IR. He recommened "Body for Life" which I guess is equal portions of Protein and Carbs. Has anyone tried this? I would be interested in hearing experiences with this diet.

Okay, those are my questions. I am sure I will have more later lol I am going in next week for a laproscopic surgery to look for endometriosis, and to see if there is anything else that could be causing my pelvic pain. I am a little worried about that...but eager to be agressive with this to find out what the *&^$ is going on with my body.

I know I have rambled on too long..but I do want to add that my doc was VERY impressed with how educated and prepared I was when I went in. He said he could tell that I have been getting good advice and reading the right things so I just want to say thank you to all of you wonderful ladies and also to the fabulous people who keep pcosupport.org going...the website with articles and the beginners kit have been SO helpful!

Also, my doc said he is currently treating over 50 women in my region for pcos...which is astounding considering the rural area that I live in.

Once again...Thanks to all of you and any advice or shared experiences would be much appreciated.

Love ya'll!
