Re: Anyone experiencing painful sexual intercourse?

The involuntary contraction of vaginal muscles is actually called
vaginismus. Vulvodynia refers to painful, itchy skin around the vulva
area, and seems to be related to insulin resistance. I've had the
pleasure (not!) of experiencing both, and believe me, the combination is
enough to put you off sex forever. My vaginismus actually developed
after an extremely painful and humiliating visit to the
gynaecologist/vulvodynia expert. Being examined when you're already in
such discomfort is horrible, made worse by having to put feet in
stirrups!! Anyway, at my next visit he couldn't proceed with the
examination because of vaginismus, and he told me it must have been
caused by an unpleasant sexual experience. I tried to assure him I
hadn't had sex since last visit, but he'd already made up his mind, but
I know it was caused from his previous insensitive exam. Anyway, just
wanted to put the record straight about difference between these 2
delightful afflictions ;)
