New to the board....From: Andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 5 Aug 2001 23:33:12 -0500 (CDT)
I have been reading the posts on this board for the last two weeks. I just wanted everyone to know that I am thankful for the information and real life advise. At this point I have not been diagnosed, but I am hoping to be. At least then I will know what is causing my problems. I am impatiently awaiting my first Endo visit. My main symptom has been an irregular cycle. At this point I have been having my period for 7 weeks. This has caused me to be anemic. I had the same problem about 5 years ago. My period then lasted for 4 months. I went to a OBGYN and he gave me a D&C and put me on the pill. That took care of my cycle problems, but I don't think that solved my problem. Since then I have had problems with depression, anxiety, Acne, & weight gain. I quit taking the pill this year and have hadn't had a normal period yet. After unsuccessful attempts to stop my period, my doctor suspected PCOS and ran blood tests. The tests showed elevated insulin levels so they have referred me to an Endo. I have Athsma and have been put on Steroids many times, but I was able to get that all under control a couple of years ago. I started my own diet and exercise program and lost 100lbs in 7 months(from 360 to 250). It came off kinda easy and I was able to stop taking antidepressants. I walked 3 miles 4 or 5 days a week and didn't eat sweets or drink soft drinks. Unfortunately 2 years later I was back to the same weight. I went through some tough personal times and quit the exercise ... the depression came back... and so did the weight. I'm scared that I'm not going to be able to loose it this time, but I'm trying to keep my hopes up. I just got married in Feb and want VERY much to get pregnant. That's why I stopped taking the pill. I wanted to be off it for a year or so before we started trying. Anyway... sorry to ramble... it's just nice to know there are people out there who know how I feel. Thanks for being here!
