Kathleen,
There are many women on this site who have had difficulties getting a
diagnosis. I assume you're on the national health, so I don't know if
you can pick your own doc. Look for a younger doc, as this condition
has only come to light recently. My doc calls it Stein-Leventhal
Syndrome, after the guys who identified it. I don't take the pill, as I
am infertile (yet managed to get pregnant once 12 years ago. Hooray!),
and having my period only every 40-60 days is the only good thing about
this disorder. I treat myself with a low carbohydrate diet, chromium,
L-carnitine, and CLA. Of course, lots of excercise is a must. Eat lots
of veggies and lean meats (good for ANYONE) and don't forget dairy
products. You'll do great! I'm an Alaskan, so I put on weight during
the winter, along with the polar bears. :) Polar bears don't have a
treadmill, though, so I have high hopes.
God bless!
