Help!

Hi everyone!

This is my first posting and I wonder if any of you can help me.

I started my periods when I was 14 (am now 27) and have never had a regular cycle. I would go for months without anything and then bleed for about 2 weeks at a time. (I know from reading your mailings that you've all been through that too!). Anyway, was put on the pill several times and have been on it constantly for the last 6 years.

I went to my Dr a few months ago because even on the pill I wasn't getting any bleeding and he suggested PCOS. I came off the pill 3 months ago and have had no bleeding since. I've also managed to put on 14lbs in that time (which I definetely could not afford to do!).

Got my blood test results back today and all of the hormones are within "normal" limits so have been put back on a low oestrogen pill and told to come back in 6 months time when I'll be referred for a scan if I haven't had a proper period.

Anyway, my real question is this. I have many of the symptoms of PCOS - irregular periods, weight gain which can't be shifted by dieting or exercise, amazing mood swings, excess hair on my abdomen, skin tags and mild anxiety/depression but my hormone levels are OK. Could I still have PCOS and what can I do next?

Have heard many of you talking about hormone ratios but am not sure what that means. I also don't know whether I should start a low carb diet (and if so which one) so would be grateful for any help from you guys.

TIA.
