Re: PCOS and Gallbladder - and a questionFrom: TJ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Jul 2001 15:42:13 -0500 (CDT)
Well, I have a strong feeling I have PCOS (have almost every symptom) and I have all kinds of gastrointestinal issues. I have colitis, my liver enzymes are very high so I was told that was fatty liver, and I also have acalculus cholecystitis (inflammation of the gall bladder, no stones) - my gallbladder fills but it doesn't empty so it is basically useless. I've had constant pain and discomfort in my "right upper quadrant" for over a year now. The gastro doc is working on what my options are - the pain may be from a sphincter or the gallbladder. Don't want to have to take out the gallbladder and find out that wasn't the cause for the pain after all.. I see an Endocrinologist (first visit!) tomorrow and I've never been so excited to see a doctor; I am sooo hoping she puts my mind at ease and confirms what I've suspected for so long - that I DO have PCOS. I don't know, I guess just being able to pin a name on all these weird things that have been going on with me will bring me some small comfort, who knows.... Hey - this has also just made me think of a question I wanted to post - IF she decides I do have PCOS, what is the likelihood that she will prescribe medication at this first visit? Do you think she will just put me on a low carb diet for a while to try, or do you think will she go the drug route first? I know this is probably a silly question that there is no way of anyone knowing the answer to, but I'm curious as to what you guys had happen at the first visit. I don't know which to hope for... Thanks guys for reading, hope everyone is doing well today. Tracy
