Faye, I don't think I built any muscle mass but my clothes did fit looser before I actually showed any weight loss on the scale (this after I started glucophage.) I read a while back that that is common for your body shape to change when you start treating the IR but I can't remember the specific reason. I know that it builds up around the middle so it would make sense that it would dissipate there first when you start treatment but I don't know if that works the same with glucovance and diabetes though. Sorry probably not much help but I have heard of that. By the way - Immodium is the only thing you are supposed to take when you are on glucophage or Met - there is something in the other stuff that can lessen it's effectiveness so it may be the same with glucovance?.
