1st Dr. Visit -- and food question

Hello -- I just had my first visit to an endocrinologist. She diagnosed me with PCOS prescribed glucophage and said as far as my diet goes -- stay away from "anything white." Sugar, flour, bread, rice, pasta, etc. But she didn't really elaborate anymore that that. So -- typically -- is milk ok? Cheese? Is there a wheat bread or cracker of some sort that is acceptable? As a student -- taking lunches with me for the day seems like it will be a very difficult task now. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Lisa
