Re: 1st visit to endocrinologistFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 13 Jul 2001 21:15:17 EDT
Debra Hi--I would ask about taking metformin and spirolactone. Met will help with dibetes and spiro will help with the hair growth. Met will need to be started at a low dose and then gradually move up to much higher. Start off low to see if you will have any sever stomache problems and all that other good stuff from side affects. I can't take met. It tears me up--I already have an ulcer. You may even need to go on birth control pills if you already aren't. Provera is good to just bring on your periods so you can still get pregnant. But the best pill to go on for pcos is ortho-cyclen or demuelen 35. They help to prevent pimples too. ortho-cyclen may cause more oil on the face so you'll have to try it first before you know. Every ones experience is different but the same. Ask about a low carb high protein diet also. They will need to do all the blood work up again too. Be prepared. Write down all your questions and ask even if they sound weird or stupid, don't be afraid. That's what they're there for. If you talk about ultrasounds make sure they do an inserted and regular too. That's all I can think of right now good luck and God bless.
