Insulin Resistance Test Question...From: Sunbeam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 2 Jul 2001 21:21:26 -0500 (CDT)
Hello Cysters! I have a question to post to the board: About a month ago I underwent and I.R. test and things didn't go so well for me. The first blood draw was 45 minutes late, after many nurses and doctors had had a go at finding a vein, because my veins collapsed, the 2nd blood draw was about 20 minutes late, again because a vein could not be found and they started the 3rd blood draw 30 minutes early knowing my veins were dodgy and got it first pop, so that test was 1/2 hour early.... So I'm wondering if this time lapse could have affected my results? I haven't recieved my results yet, and won't until my appointment next month, but I would like some advice as to whether or not ask for another test, (Perhaps ask for a bung so blood can be taken at the required time, and on time rather than messsing around with finding veins each hour!)? Also, about 20 minutes or so after I drank that yukky glucose drink I got the shakes, felt dizzy and somewhat nauseas...did anyone else have a reaction like this? Is this type of thing normal? Thanks in advance for your advice! Jackie Email: jnorris@iprimus.com.au
