His reply was that it is another symptom of pcos and it reflects those that are considered severe cases, anyone whose levels are over 150; He called it Virilization: this is when the clitoris enlarges, some may start balding at the temple area, voice starts to deepen, extreme muscle growth, increased sexuality and breast atrophy. and for those trying to conceive--please ask your doc about continue use of the anti-androgen drugs--spirolactone,etc. because my doc says that it causes defects in the fetus especially the males. he also says that metformin does not help for the male hormone syndrom. BCP are best to prescribe for this-it will control the flux in the hormones and help with the hair growth,pimples.etc. Just wanted to pass this along-if anyone was interested.
