help for wife and I and Sex drivesFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 29 Jun 2001 18:19:14 EDT
I was hospitalized for an ovarian cyst that had bursted (on the way to my mother-in-laws funeral- 104 degree temp and ungodly pain, and not diagnosed pcos yet) in 1989. 1992 & 93 on Valentines Day both years, I had surgery to remove adhestions that had extended from uterus to stomach and I was unable to walk because I had doubled over in pain. These adhesions caused me very similar pains to the ovarian cyst incident. An ultrasound was able to distinguish the difference. Good luck to you and your wife in locating the source of her pain. Sex drive: Unbelievable ! In some strange way, it helps to know others have the same problem: too much ! I really thought I was becoming a man. With 5 brothers and 69 male cousins, 2 female cousins...I thought something was desparately wrong. A fantastic young ER dr was able to recognize all of my symptoms (classic: excess hair, male baldness, hypetension, diabetes, dowanger's hump, problem periods, etc). The label of PCOS was the answer to my prayers and saved me from a mental admission. From too much sex drive to nothing (no interest). I have been on glucophage for 18 months (from 216 to 176 pounds at this posting) and all I want now is a happy medium. Thanks to all of you for sharing .....it helps a lot :} Valerie
