Thanks for posting John, that's sweet of you - I can understand your concern at the suffering your wife is going through and hopefully we can help!

PCOS is about so much more than cysts - it's an endocrine disorder that effects hormones and metabolism. If your wife has PCOS she probably has other symptoms like weight gain, acne, or facial hair. Metformin is the best way we have of treating PCOS - it is very important she be on this drug or one like it to protect her from heart disease or diabetes.

I don't know too much about the very large cysts or their rupturing, but I know it does happen. Maybe someone else here can help you solve that part of the problem.

Is it possible to get your wife to come and post online? I don't know if support groups are an option in your area, but the friendships formed on this board are a great source of strength and knowledge. It might help her to see she's not alone!

There is a LOT of information out there about PCOS. Don't feel overwhelmed or alone in fighting it. Please feel free to email if I can help you with anything!
