Per 'PCOS, The Hidden Epidemic', Dr. Thatcher believes there are a number of different genes that are involved in PCOS. He says that anyone can have a different combination of these genes, thus different women having different collections of symptoms.

Example being: Dad has the PCOS Type A genes and Mom has the PCOS Type B genes; their Daughter could manifest something we'd call PCOS Type C due to the mix of different genetic variants.
