Have your Dr. keep an eye on your testosterone levels and watch your sugar / carb intake! You can still have the weight gain!

I was seriously underweight ( 5'9 1/2" and 112 pounds) until I was 28 years old, just 3 years ago! I couldn't gain weight for anything. I tried drinking weight gaining drinks, Ensure and eating things intentionally trying to gain weight. When I had my son at 22 I dropped back down to 112 within 2 weeks, my body snapped back into shape perfectly. I didn't really have many signs of PCOS back then, no excess hair or hair loss. No acne at all, ever. I did have long heavy periods, multiple miscarriages and gestational diabetes, all of which are "subtle" signs though.

At 28 I had become pregnant, it was a Molar pregnancy, they are a big hormonal mess. It seems to have kicked my PCOS into action as everything went downhill from there. I gained 55 pounds quickly, acne appeared for the first time ever, my hair started falling out, I was depressed (very unusual for me!!!), huge ups and downs around meal times and thickened uterine lining due to lack of ovulation. The only things I didn't have a problem with was the excess hair and lack of periods.

Don't let yourself get too comfortable thinking you've avoided the weight issues of PCOS. Keep an eye on your testosterone, insulin levels and diet!
