After hours of being in a beautifully sound sleep tonight, I woke up completely anxious about this endo appointment I have scheduled that's not until mid July. I haven't been lucky enough to get a referral to an endo before now, even though I've been complaining about my pcos symptoms to doctors for over 8 years. Though, I was officially diagnosed by my previous gyn, a wonderful woman, a year ago before moving to Florida, I've had to deal with military docs for the passed year, who didn't until a month ago agree with her diagnosis. The endo has supposedly ordered a lot of blood work and I'm supposed to get the "fasting tests" done before my appointment with her. I'm probably going to go tomorrow. Of course, I can't find anyone who'll tell me what "fasting tests" have been ordered. I already feel like I've had every blood test known to man since the beginning of the year! I'm feeling really frustrated and bitter toward doctors because so many of them have just brushed me aside or prescribed birth control pills, which have driven up my blood pressusre, cholesterol and probably my insulin levels as well. I want to have an open mind about this new doctor, but I'm already feeling like it's not going to work out, despite the fact that I haven't met her yet! It's not like I have any choice of another doctor to see either, being military (she's not only the only endo here, but the only person in the military hospital's endo dept.!). I feel like I already have a good understanding of pcos. I just want a doctor to actually treat me! I don't know what to expect from this appointment or what the point of it is, since any one of the 10-12+ doctors I've seen in the passed 8 years could have, and should have, done something for me! Does anyone have any advice on how to prepare myself for this appointment? Can anyone tell me what this doctor is going to do, the same as or differently than any other doctor? Feeling miserable and extremely over tired, Michele D.
